Curious about oil painting but not sure where to start? Not ready to invest in materials just yet? You’re not alone.
This relaxed, beginner-friendly workshop covers the essentials—materials, setup, cleaning, mediums, solvents, and the basics of colour mixing (including why value matters more than you think). Once you’ve got the foundations, you’ll create your own interpretation of a local coastal scene—no rigid rules, just guidance and space to explore. We’ll pause midway for tea or coffee to reflect, chat, and check in on your progress.
A low-pressure way to get familiar with oil painting and see if it’s for you.
The Tutor
Sarah is a visual artist whose work explores the interplay between ocean, sky, and land. Inspired by a long connection to Apollo Bay, her oil and acrylic paintings balance mood with a sense of whimsy.
