Ready2Go Apollo Bay
Marrar Woorn Neighbourhood House is working towards rolling the Ready2Go program out in 2019. This program helps the more isolated people in our community stay safe on high fire danger days and extreme weather events.
Ready2Go Background
Ready2Go helps vulnerable and isolated people who require extra support to remain in the community they love with the assistance of a trained volunteer who checks on them to ensure they are safe and hydrated on extreme weather days as well as early relocation if they desire.
Ready2Go is an important program which began in the Eastern Dandenong Ranges region in Victoria, an area known for its vibrant communities and history of catastrophic bushfires and storms.
Echo Youth and Family Services received recognition at the Fire Awareness Awards with the Ready2Go Program winning the Access and Inclusion Award and the RACV Insurance Excellence Award for community programs. Ready2Go also received a State Highly Commended at the Resilient Australia Awards.
Ready2Go Victoria
Echo Youth and Family Services were successful in securing funding to expand the Ready2Go Program across Victoria. The Victorian project is jointly funded by Gandel Philanthropy and by Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation through the Eldon and Anne Foote trust. In cooperation with Emergency Management Victoria we are expanding the Ready2Go program to a further 10 communities across Victoria over the next two years.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer you must have a full driver’s license, a registered car with comprehensive insurance and be willing to obtain a Police Check and Working with Children Check. Training is provided for all volunteers.
